2009 International Work Day
Chapters, colonies and house corporations all across North America are planning a day, primarily in the months of April and May, to get together with students, alumni, parents and guests to improve the chapter house and/or grounds. Groups are planning constructive projects, food and fellowship for all who participate. Since its creation, International Work Day has become an annual tradition for many PiKA chapters and house corporations.
In just 2008 alone:
• 83 chapters participated
• 415 individual projects completed
• $254,830 in housing improvements
• 3,565 alumni, undergraduate members, parents and guests participated
Since International Work Day was founded, 3,826 improvement projects have been completed at a total cost of $2,290,826. These events included the involvement of 32,577 alumni, students, parents, and friends. While a considerable amount of valuable work has been completed for the betterment of Pike houses everywhere, a number of house corporation boards have been created and/or enhanced in conjunction with the Work Day endeavors.
